After Hurricane Maria and its aftermath, Funky Beehive, a coastal lifestyle boutique, had to temporarily close its Caribbean location on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico. Funky Beehive's owners, Kara Hanson and Oscar Fontana, and their three-year-old, call Vero Beach home. When Funky Beehive was without a space, Kara started looking for a temporary place in Vero. She came across the owners of Maldetti Toscani and agreed that it would be a great fit for the two concepts for Funky Beehive to have a trunk show at their shop.
